Welcome to Gliedt Remodeling!
Over the the last twenty five years, I have had a wide range of experience in in the residential markets of design, wood frame construction, custom cabinetry, and general contracting. The experience of running my business in these areas over the years has been a great foundation, and a model for how I run our boat yard facility.
Starting on a drawing board as a draftsman for local Architects and Structural Engineers by day, and with college classes at night, I developed my interest in remodeling design, and the ability for communicating those designs to my clients and their contractors.
This design work eventually turned into opportunities to work on site with contractors, and a chance to learn the carpentry trade hands on from the rough to the finish disiplines. As I gained experience, the projects evolved into my own residential design and general contracting business. The management of many subcontractors, during this time period was beneficial in the further development of my design background and the ability to accurately illustrate working drawings for the construction process. Originally all of the design work was drafted manually, however, today all of the design and working drawings are prepared with the use of AutoCAD after the initial hand sketching phase.
My main focus these days, is currently with my boatyard and shop, as you can see from the other sections of this site, however, the experiences aquired during these years are
the foundation for operating the boatyard business. Illustrating or communicating the scope of work on a project, and managing a clients project throughout the process, and bringing it to a successful conclusion, is very satisfying with the right client and subcontractors in a project. Each day in the new boat yard I find that this experience is priceless, in that, although the projects may be different in the scope of work and types of trades involved, it is the same ability to communicate, manage, and attention to the details that it takes to be successful with each.
As with the experiences gained in the cabinet shop, I believe our background in general contracting and remodel design, will give us a unique perspective on the operation of our boat yard. Our contracting practices with our new customers, and the management of their renovation projects, will be similar to the way we contracted and managed our residential projects over the last two decades, which left many happy customers. These similarities can be seen in our marine portfolio section of the 58' Custom Navigator project.
Several residential remodel projects I have been involved in recently, can be viewed in the portfolio section of this page for for additonal background information.
